The 2010 One Day In May Festival Concert Series at the Rigger kicks off on Thursday,
February 11th.

This year we’re promoting five shows leading up to the One Day In May Music and Arts Festival being held at the Student Union Building Keele University Saturday 15th May 2010.

Proceeds from all performances will be donated to Cancer Research Keele University, which is under the direction of Dr. Josep Sule’-Suso. Josep is one of the Oncologists that cared for my darlin’ Janet Griffiths Micallef as she battled against Lung cancer at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire.

When Janet and I found out that Cancer Research was being carried out between the University Hospital of North Staffordshire and Keele University, Janet asked me to organise a Music and Arts Festival to help raise funds for our
local cause. Josep's team need a 'Spectrometer' in order to carry on their research with the early diagnosis of cancer. This instrument costs £200,000 and purchasing it will greatly help them with their work, so that is our target.

My friends in the Newcastle-under-Lyme Music Community all rallied around to make last year’s inaugural One Day In
May Music and Arts Festival a very special day. I am committed to continuing these events to honour Janet’s memory
and my word that I gave to her that it will be done. With your support we can help fund Cancer Research on a local level and enjoy life through live music and the arts in our community at the same time.

Joining my band during the 2010 ODiM Live Music Programme will be The Barflys, Elvis Fontenot and the Sugar Bees, House On Fire, Texas Hurricane, Sarah Miller and Dan Machin, Hayley Strangelove, Michelle Martin, The Trentvale Poet, Amy Condrey and Julia Mosley, Ian Cal Ford and the Railmen along with Actor/Poet Alan Barrett just to name a few.

Live Music is one of the Celebrations of life whether you play, dance or listen, so please read through these pages and mark the dates on your calendar. Your support for these events will be greatly appreciated.

This booklet has been produced through the financial support of our kind sponsors made up of local business people; the majority are members of the Stone Chapter of BNI which meets weekly at the Stone House Hotel on Friday mornings. Their support for the ODiM is very welcome and appreciated. Anyone interested in receiving more information about BNI please contact Richard Mitchell on 07870 874796.
